YAP confers tumorigenic and metastatic potentials in hepatocytes, as evidenced by enhanced aptitudes in cell viability, anchorage-independent growth, migration and invasion.
YAP nuclear accumulation was found in the 53.7% of HCC, correlated with poorer tumor differentiation and higher serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels.
Nuclear YAP is an independent predictor for HCC-specific recurrence-free survival.
YAP plays an important role in HCC development and progression.
